Introduction:  I will begin by giving the class a sample rubric that I have taken from Rubi Star. I want them to examine the rubric with me to get an example of appropriate terminology. They will see that the language changes slightly as the criteria gets more advanced. I want students to hand this sample rubric back to me, as it is to be used as an example only and I want students to create their own Rubric.

Development:
1.      The Rubric will be created by my homeroom class (Room 10). It will also be used by 90 other students. (Room 8, 9, &12).

2.      The Rubric will be used to grade the alphabet book that the students are creating in technology class.

3.      I will draw a sample rubric on the blackboard and together we will brainstorm criteria that should be placed on the rubric (and what to discard)along with dividing the sub-criteria into appropriate sections.

4.      I will label the rubric from 1 to five and students must brainstorm at least 4 criteria.

5.      The class will be divided randomly into 4 groups of 7 students each. Each group was responsible for one of the 4 criteria.

6.      1 member of each group must be responsible for note taking.

7.      I will circulate the room, interjecting and offering ideas and suggestions.

8.      I will give each group periodic time checks as they only have 15 minutes for this step.

9.      When students finish I will collect all of their work and read what they have created to the entire class.

10.  I will take what the students have created and compile the rubric at home.

11.  All students will be given a copy that they are to place within their binders.

Assessment:  Assessment will be done by the students.

Classroom management:  As the groups work, I will circulate the room offering suggestions and help. I expect all students to show equal participation amongst group members.

Conclusion:  Students will self assess their alphabet book using the rubric that they have created. After giving this back to me,  I will also use the student created Rubric to give students their final grade on the alphabet book project.
